At last I get to share some audio of my remix/reworking of Blu Mar Ten’s “Above Words” which will be available digitally in July. Accompanying the remixes are some lovely videos from ithinkitsnice.
‘Above Words’ is completely transformed by San Francisco’s master of quirky folktronica, Badmammal, who rewrites the tune’s Autonomic-via-Detroit stylings into a gorgeous montage of dusty acoustic Americana. A hypnotising, waltz-time guitar rendition of the original loop builds up into crashing waves of chiming bells and choral vocals, taking the listener on a breathtaking and emotional journey.

im releasing a new badmammal EP called “tapestop” , its an homage of sorts to my favorite english guitar/synth bands (post punk/rock, dance, whatever). it will be available in mp3 format from itunes, amazon, cdbaby and the usual avenues of digital distribution as well as in limited (15 copies) cd format with handmade collaged packaging.
If you haven’t already read about the upcoming badmammal ep “tapestop” then Ill give a quick explanation. Aside from being available in digital format it will be available in limited quantity cd format (10-15) with handmade collage packaging. the first five cd purchase will include a version of “tapestop” on cassette tape.
So, the other day I went out and purchased some fun tapes to record on and began the recording process.
while all that stuff is going on ive been working on assembling the cd packaging and doing some collage work.
so we’re almost done with the video for “black beauties”. we could be in the midst of a fight but im not totally sure. i know we’ll kiss and make up though. we’ve got a sort of “single” coming out soon before our un-named upcoming album comes out. it’ll be two songs “sleep to dream” and a vocal version of “another bed I know”. audio clips soon
trying to assemble some footage for a new gimps video. it’s gonna be for the tune “black beauties” off of our latest EP release. the last video had raw beef , mannequins, and south jersey. this video has raw chicken, “found video footage” (thanks old manager at bookstore!) and atlanta . might need some more equipment before i finish it though.
just gotta write one more tune and get artwork together. hopefully i can have this ep ready for purchase this summer. Im thinking Ill hand make the cd’s this time around (like the Community Music Center EP.. which there are 7 left BTW!) and sell the rest digitally.
